Clauses of purpose

Estas cláusulas indican la finalidad o propósito por el que se realiza una acción. Comúnmente se introducen con:

• to / in order to / so as to + verbo en infinitivo.
  
  

• so that / in order that + sujeto + verbo modal

Ejemplos con infinitivo

• He went to the store to buy bread.
  (Él fue a la tienda para comprar pan.)
  
  

• She exercises regularly in order to stay healthy.
  (Ella hace ejercicio regularmente para mantenerse sana.)
  
  

• I wrote clearly so as to avoid misunderstandings.
  (Escribí claramente para evitar malentendidos.)

Ejemplos con sujeto y verbo modal

• We arrived early so that we could get good seats.
  (Llegamos temprano para poder conseguir buenos lugares.)
  
  

• I’m studying hard so that I can pass the exam.
  (Estoy estudiando mucho para poder aprobar el examen.)
